"Red Envelope Art" was a passive program, but that didn’t alter it’s positive impact on students.

The aim of this program was to acknowledge and celebrate diversity within the student housing community. At UCI, there's a significant population that celebrates Lunar New Year.

The execution of this program was based off of a tradition amongst those who celebrate, where red envelopes containing money are exchanged. I saw each envelope not only as a means to celebrate, but also as an opportunity to educate, those who picked them up at the front desk.

Inside each envelope, recipients received a positive fortune for the new year, along with a fact card detailing the history and significance of the Lunar New Year holiday. However, what I cherished most about this initiative was the collaboration with local Asian artists to commission unique stickers to include in each envelope. Not only did this add an element of fun for the students, but it also provided exposure for talented artists in this community, fostering connections and support within our diverse student body.
