Why journalism?

I chose journalism because I’ve always loved telling a good story. As a little girl, I would write and illustrate my own books—my mom proudly left them on the coffee table for guests to flip through. As I got older, I found new ways to tell stories through painting and art—acrylics were my favorite medium, and I still doodle in the margins of my notebooks. For a time, I considered urban planning as my major in college, drawn to city design and architecture, but after a few courses, I found myself pulled back to writing. I’ve experimented with many forms of expression, but writing has always been my first love. Studying journalism didn’t just refine my storytelling—it taught me how to communicate clearly, think critically, and lead with curiosity in any field.
